I’m Sorry
January 23rd, 2008 under Miscellaneous. [ Comments: none ]

I spoke with my sister and cousin last weekend about my blog. They sat me down and told me, in no uncertain terms, that my blog is boring. They gave me some advice about how I could make things more interesting, but the overall consensus was that they won’t be reading it anymore. Unfortunately, that probably means that I have no more readers.

I was thinking about this and I’d like to apologize. I am sorry that I don’t care if you read this or not. If you’d like to stop by and see what I’m thinking, I welcome you, but try not to expect too much. It would be like coming over to my apartment and forcing me to do an amusing dance. I am an excellent host; If you came to my apartment, I would share my booze, tell some funny stories, have some laughs, and MAYBE I would eventually start dancing. It would be a wild, drunken, hilarious, tottering dance, but you would never see it if you tried to force it out of me.

So, in conclusion, don’t be an asshole. I know I can be entertaining, but it is something that has to come about naturally. So just relax and I might eventually post something interesting, or just stop reading and assume I’ll never post anything interesting again. Either way, please stop complaining.

-Dave

I thought the writer’s strike would help me to start reading instead of watching TV, but it hasn’t.

(First of all, I’d like to apologize for the title, but it pretty much wrote itself. I had next to nothing to do with it.)

I don’t follow politics as much as I used to. I find myself running low on both time and idealism. And frankly, the 2008 election has been pretty boring thus far. My attitude has been: As long as Bush is gone, I’ll be happy. Yesterday, though, I heard something that should scare us all out of our apathy (at least, temporarily). In a recent speech, Mike Huckabee said:

“[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards.”

Obviously this is a desperate plea for some last minute fundamentalist Christian votes, but it is no less scary. Huckabee is proposing rewriting the constitution to match religious doctrine. Not to be too glib about it, but I’ll venture a guess that the founding fathers might have objected to that…

Just remember kids: Huckabee = Theocracee [editor's note: I wrote that clever slogan, but I was not the only one. A google search has revealed that other people are similarly clever.]

Happy 2008!

As you might’ve noticed, I haven’t posted for a couple weeks. My initial instinct is to apologize for the delay, but screw that noise! First of all, I doubt very many people are anxiously awaiting another post from me. I imagine friends and family might casually stop by every now and then to see what I’ve written, but no one has told me “Dave, I’ve missed the wit and wisdom of your blog” (If they had, I might’ve posted sooner). Second, I have no posting schedule and make no promises to post regularly. I try to post as often as I can, but sometimes I just don’t have much to say.

New Year’s Resolution
Every year I try to make a new year’s resolution, and it is usually something lame. Like I’ll say “I will try not to procrastinate” or something stupid like that. This year I picked something more concrete. I’ve resolved to travel somewhere I’ve never been. At least, that’s my excuse for going to London. I am still in the theoretical stages of planning, but hopefully I’ll be going at the end of March or April.

New videos coming eventually!
