Dark Thoughts
September 30th, 2007 under Miscellaneous. [ Comments: none ]

There’s a road outside of Denton by the Texas Motor Speedway called “Dale Earnhardt Way”, whenever I pass it I always think: “Does Dale Earnhardt Way go directly into a wall?” I always feel bad when I think that, but I really can’t help it.

Competition Rules!

Tonight I was researching cable for my new apartment. Luckily, in the area where I’ll be living, I have a choice between Time Warner and Verizon FIOS. I checked out both of their prices and decided that while FIOS has some advantages, it would probably be a little  cheaper to go with Time Warner. So, I started ordering online with Time Warner, and when I got to the “pick your install date” section, I noticed all of the dates were like a month in the future. I thought this was probably some kind of glitch with the website, so I called customer service. When I got the representative on the line and asked her about the date, she confirmed it was true and that they were “very busy” and  there was nothing she could do to have my cable installed sooner.  Well, as you might know, I am a person (an impatient one, I might add) who enjoys television and the internet, so this was unacceptable! I said to the lady “this is craziness!” and she said “sorry, but thanks for your interest in Time Warner” and we hung up.

This is why competition is so great though, because after I got off the phone with her I called Verizon and got  a similar price, but with a reasonable install date. I think Time Warner is used to being the only game in town, as far as cable is concerned. They still have a monopolist mindset, thinking that I’ll wait a month for their (crappy) service because I have no other choice.  Luckily, other companies are picking up the slack a bit. And while Verizon is not exactly some independent upstart, it is still better to have to choice between two behemoths than to have no choice at all.

P.S. I went with the FIOS digital cable with a dual-tuner HD DVR and 15Mbps/2Mbps internet.

Thank You!

Important Announcement

Good evening,

On the morning of September 17th, 2007 I was given a citation for speeding in Addison Texas. I was going 27 miles per hour in a school zone with a speed limit of 20 miles per hour. I am repentant, and though there were no children in sight when I was speeding, it is no less shameful. I will pay any fines that I am assessed because I am a good citizen. I know that there are some of you who feel that I was railroaded by the police because of my notoriety or perhaps because I am half-Chinese. Unfortunately I cannot comment on these matters, but if you feel there was a miscarriage of justice perpetrated upon me today, then you may contribute to the newly formed “Dave Green legal defense fund”. It is with a heavy heart that I will agree to accept your gifts ($10 minimum please), as you have already given me the greatest gift of all: your prayers and support. (Paypal link coming soon..).

New Blog — New Haiku
September 16th, 2007 under Haiku. [ Comments: none ]

My myspace haiku blog is now defunct. The archives appear randomly in the top left-hand corner. My new haikus will appear here on a regular basis, such as this gem:

It is getting late,
Work tomorrow, long commute;
Repeat til I’m dead…

I put up the discographies of the Gothic Surfers and MC Dave Green in the “Audio” section. I also have a few rare audio gems in the miscellaneous section. Hopefully there will be more to come. I should say that if you have any Dave Green audio that I might not have included, please send it to me. My information is in the “Contact” section, which has also been updated. Look at me, I am like a real life webmaster or something…go figure.

Hi, I’m Dave Green from The Dave Green Zone. This is the blog portion of my new website.   I am hoping this site will be a repository for all the various things I’ve done over the years, from the music I made in high school to my most recent videos. Of course, it could  just be a static page that will never be updated. Hopefully this won’t be my last post. Please enjoy.

Your Friend,

Dave
